Bruno Guimaraes has received permission to travel to Arsenal and complete his £75m move from Newcastle United. The 28-year-old midfielder will undergo a medical at the Premier League champions within the coming days after both clubs agreed a fee.

The deal represents a key piece of business of Mikel Arteta ahead of Arsenal’s title defence - while Newcastle will be left to wave goodbye to another key player following the departures of Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer. Brazil international Guimaraes told Newcastle earlier this summer that he wanted to join Arsenal and a cut-price deal was swiftly reached following negotiations between the clubs this week.

Arsenal will now turn to continuing their pursuit of Guimaraes’ international team-mate Vinicius Jr, although the Gunners now believe it is increasingly likely that he stays at Real Madrid, who have significantly upped their new contract offer to the Brazilian star and it’s much closer to what the player wants.

Manchester United want to sign a left-back, meanwhile, with Lewis Hall reportedly now set on a move to Old Trafford, but Newcastle are determined to stop the exodus and insist he is not for sale.

Liverpool want to sign Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, and the European champions may have already landed his replacement: Maghnes Akliouche is set to join PSG from Monaco.

Tottenham’s Mikey Moore is heading to Germany to complete a loan move to FC Koln as he heads out on loan once more for the 2026/27 season.

Moore had several clubs in England and Europe interested in signing him, but the club and player feel this is an ideal step after a successful season at Rangers.

There is no option or obligation to make the deal permanent.

While it’s good news on the Bruno Guimaraes front for Arsenal today, The Independent understands that the Gunners now feel it’s increasingly likely that Vinicus Jr stays at Real Madrid.

Real have significantly upped their new contract offer to the Brazilian star and it’s much closer to what the player wants.

The feeling on all sides is that he’s now far likelier to stay with Madrid.

Manchester United are poised to offload two goalkeepers, with Radek Vitek set to join Middlesbrough in a deal potentially worth up to £14 million, while Altay Bayindir prepares for a loan move to Celta Vigo.

Vitek, a 22-year-old Czech shot-stopper, is nearing a permanent switch to last season’s Championship play-off finalists Middlesbrough following an impressive loan spell at Bristol City.

The young keeper initially arrived at Old Trafford from Sigma Olomouc in 2020, having also spent time on loan at Accrington and Blau-Weiss Linz before his successful stint at Ashton Gate.

Meanwhile, Turkey international Bayindir, 28, is close to finalising a season-long loan to La Liga side Celta Vigo.

Mohamed Salah has chosen his next club: Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The Liverpool icon, who left Anfield as a free agent at the end of last season, has arrived in Turkey ahead of the move and has been pictured by the club wearing the team’s colours ahead of signing his contract on Thursday. He will wear the number 61 shirt at his new club.

Should Salah sign for Trabzonspor, the Egypt captain would instantly become the club’s biggest signing. Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and former Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe are among their ex-players.

Liverpool have no plans to sell Cody Gakpo, despite Tottenham expressing their interest in the 27-year-old Netherlands forward. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Tottenham are in talks with Gakpo’s camp about a move.

Gakpo has four years left on his deal and Liverpool would not sanction a move without a direct replacement - although they have been linked with Bradley Barcola this summer, and the PSG star will not come cheap.

Spurs have also been linked with Manchester City forward Savinho, with Roberto De Zerbi keen to improve Tottenham’s attacking options.

Tottenham have also distanced themselves with reports linking the club for a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

Jackson, 25, has returned from a season-long loan at Bayern Munich and is available for another move this summer.

Spurs have already spent £237m this summer and although they have not ruled out a move for another attacker - with Gakpo and Savinho linked - there will be no move for Jackson.

This would be a surprise move. Nottingham Forest have been linked with Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders.

Forest have shown an interest in the Netherlands international, according to the Daily Mail, as they look to replace Elliot Anderson - who went the other way and joined Man City this summer.

The former Milan midfielder is valued at around £55m, while Forest have also been linked with Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall.

Manchester United Women have announced the appointment of Eva Olid as their new head coach on an initial two-year deal with the option of a further year.

The winger arrives from Hannover for an initial fee of £2.75m.

Derek McInnes said: “He has gained valuable experience across a number of different leagues in Europe.

“He is quick, direct and has the ability to make things happen in the final third."
