Man City are set to announce the record-equalling £125m signing of Enzo Fernandez but Chelsea’s move for Lamine Camara has collapsed

Manchester City are poised to announce the record-equalling transfer of Enzo Fernandez for £125m - but Chelsea’s deal for Monaco’s Lamine Camara has dramatically fallen through after the transfer deadline. Chelsea are said to be furious after Monaco pulled out of a £47m deal for the 22-year-old midfielder at the last moment. They wanted to have a replacement for Fernandez lined up after City reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign the midfielder, matching the British record transfer fee Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last summer.

Manchester City have meanwhile announced the £60m arrival of Iliman Ndiaye while Everton are set for a busy end to the window as they look to finalise deals for Folarin Balogun, Jack Grealish and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Reports emerging from France suggest the £40m move for Monaco striker Balogun is now in doubt, however. Tottenham have signed Mykhailo Mudryk on loan while the story of the night concerns Malick Fofana: Sunderland are set to beat Crystal Palace to Fofana after a dramatic tug-of-war for the £30m Lyon winger.

Manchester United will not be signing a left back, despite being offered the chance to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri from rivals Manchester City. United were offered a loan with obligation to but had no interest in a permanent move for the City defender, while Liverpool’s business appears done after signing Bradley Barcola and agreeing to sign 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans next summer. Harvey Elliot, meanwhile, has joined Valencia on loan.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has finally concluded with the forward remaining at Atletico Madrid, who refused to allow the Argentina international to join Barcelona. The Gunners have sold Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus and allowed Ethan Nwaneri to depart on loan and the window closes without Mikel Arteta signing the marquee attacking signing he craved.

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Chelsea.

Enzo Fernandez’s move to Manchester City hasn’t yet been confirmed - but the midfielder has taken to social media to say goodbye to Chelsea.

With less than 10 minutes until the 11pm deadline, it’s time to ask the biannual deadline day question: what is a deal sheet and how does it work?

A deal sheet is the formal document used by Premier League clubs to get two extra hours to complete deals that are still in the process of being finalised.

This means that for those who correctly submit the paperwork - and the Premier League is infamously strict over this - the deadline stretches until 1am. If you fail to complete the move by then, the deal falls through.

The sheet needs a signature from player, the buying club and the selling club, along with key financial details of the transfer.

Leeds United have confirmed the season-long loan of Nice left-back Melvin Bard, with the deal having an option to buy worth £4.28m.

The club remain after Frankfurt’s Jean-Matteo Bahoya but will likely need to submit a deal sheet to get a deal over the line.
