The two teams will meet at Salzburg's Red Bull Arena in Austria, kicking off at 20:00 BST on Wednesday, 12 August.

The 30,000 capacity stadium is home to RB Salzburg and is also referred to as Stadion Salzburg during Uefa events.

This is for both sponsorship regulations and to differentiate it from the RB Arena in Leipzig, Germany, which hosted the 2026 Europa Conference League final.

It has previously been host to group matches in Euro 2008 as well as Europa League fixtures.

The match will be officiated by Omar Artan, the Somali referee who was in line to take part in the 2026 World Cup, but was turned away by border officials in Miami.

Artan held a diplomatic passport and a single-entry US visa, but was still prevented from entering the country.

Uefa said the decision to appoint Artan had been taken after discussions with the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

Artan was the 2025 Caf men's referee of the year and was set to be the first Somali to referee at the World Cup finals.

Of the 50 previous Super Cups, 30 have been won by the team that won the top-flight European competition (now known as the Uefa Champions League).

The match has been an official fixture since 1973, and until 1999 saw the winner of the Champions League (or equivalent) play the winners of the European Cup Winner's Cup, until the latter was discontinued.

The Europa League winners then became the match opponents.

Real Madrid are the most successful Super Cup side, having won the match six times, with Liverpool's four victories making them the most successful English side.

Aberdeen are the only Scottish side to have won the Super Cup.
